Partners in Community Care (PICC)

PICC is a social service arm of partner synagogues and Sid Jacobson JCC, supplementing and complementing the services and care provided by each organization, with professional social work support to clergy, Jewish professionals, leadership, membership and the greater community. PICC helps create a caring and responsive Jewish community.

Partner Synagogues

PICC is part of your synagogue, including onsite services: student/teacher workshops, parenting classes, staff training, clergy and professional support, board and committee development, and more. Wherever there is a need to create a more caring community,

PICC can be there.

Partners In Community Care (PICC) is funded by a generous grant from UJA-Federation of New York and by partner synagogues. Over 7,000 families in the community belong to the JCC or a PICC partner synagogue. Our current partner synagogues include:

Cancer Wellness – Strength-to-Strength
"Strength-to-Strength" is fitness and discussion geared to the specific needs of individuals recovering from cancer treatment or actively engaged in a treatment regimen. Caregivers are welcome too. Strength-to-Strength is FREE and open to the entire community thanks to a generous grant from the Beth C. Tortolani Foundation.

Bereavement
For those who have lost a spouse or partner and are in the grieving process.

A small, intimate support group for those who have lost a spouse or partner and have already attended a support group for the newly bereaved.

Separation/Divorce
For those who are recently separated and divorced, the group allows for participants to explore feelings of anger, anxiety and loss.

Next Step Separation/Divorce
A small, intimate support group for those who have gone through separation or divorce and have already attended a support group for the newly separated or divorced.

Weekly support group for those who are feeling overwhelmed and over-extended by the demands of caring for family, career, parents and loved ones.

Offering lively and provocative conversation as a way to meet, mingle and connect.

Empty Chair at the Seder: Facing Loss at the Holidays
Whether you've lost a spouse, sibling, parent, child or close friend, your Seder and Passover holiday as a whole might evoke difficult emotions. Learn how to honor the loss and allow for grief, while finding meaning and comfort in the enduring themes of liberation and renewal. The program is co-facilitated by PICC's Audrey Bernstein, LCSW and Rabbi Raphael Adler of the Woodbury Jewish Center. RSVP to Margy Ringelheim, LMSW at ext. 196.

Individual Counseling Services
We offer professional, confidential short term counseling for individuals, youth, teens, adults, seniors and families.
Fee FREE intake,
$65 per session thereafter / members* FREE intake and complimentary follow-up session, $25 per session thereafter

We offer information and make referrals to reputable local social service organizations that can provide further support on issues including:

*For all PICC programs and services, the fee for “members” includes JCC members and those individuals and families who are members of one of our partner synagogues.
